I have a First Class Sociology Degree from Glasgow University in Scotland, UK. I am applying to Georgetown University in the USA and they want my Grade Point Average (GPA)
The UK does not do GPA. Is there a recognized standard for comparing the two different ways of grading???

There is no recognized standard. However, US grad schools get a lot of applicants out of education systems that are, at least in part, based on the British model. So contact Georgetown. They will be able to advise you on how to complete that section of the application.
A British first would be the rough equivalent of a US GPA of around 3.5+, but that’s my rough estimate – not anything you should be putting on an application!

you can send your transcript out to be evaluated, there are companies out there that do this. i recommend google search and see what comes up.
Good luck.
